It's all confusing to me, but no worries. I've checked his pension age and it shows as July this year. I'll have a think.

Our letter to our MP is almost complete. I'll send later this evening. I would assume he'll know the correct place to send it if he feels he can help. Hopefully he won't just 'forward it on'.

On a separate issue... just in case we do wind up completing the ESA50 form, I'm curious on the following:

1) When my dad was placed within the Support Group approx three years ago, it was because he met the descriptor on moving around. When his illness was at it's worse he was unable to move 5 metres (let alone 50) and because of the nature of his illness using aids made no difference. He simply couldn't function, regardless. His doctor thankfully confirmed this in writing. Has this descriptor changed in the last three years? Looking at the form - it appears the same.

2) When the day finally comes when he 'invited' to apply for PIP (which replaces DLA) is there a moving element to it? If so. how does it compare with the moving around section on the ESA form?

Kind regards -
BlueBear.

There have been no changes to the ESA Mobility Descriptor.

PIP has two tests for Mobility their combined score is used to decide on an award. The first test looks at the claimants ability to plan and follow a route and is aimed at claimants with Cognitive, mental health or sensory issues. The second test requires the claimant to stand and then walk, the use of a wheelchair is not considered.

The test is points based which is completely different from DLA, he will need 8 points or more for a Standard award or 12 points or more for the Enhanced.

To get an award on purely the walking test, the claimant needs to be restricted to 20m-50m for the Standard rate (equivalent to DLA LRM) and 20m or less for the Enhanced rate 9DLA HRM).

Born 6 Sept 54 - 5 Oct 54. SRP on 6 Sept 2020. Oldest will be 66y.

Born 6 Oct 54 onwards until 5 April 1960. On 66th birthday.

Born 6th April 1961 onwards - 67th birthday (until the next rise in SRP).

My dad was born in July '51, so 65 appears correct.
