You need to make sure that anything you want to send in is with them by the 5th.
Best of luck.

Just spotted that the GP has listed Hyperthyroidism instead of Hypothyroidism so need to get that changed and an explanation note.

Can anyone tell me if side effects of medication can be considered when deciding whether we qualify for benefit?
Cheers.
I assume that you have received the DWP's submission, this would be the same as the MR so you should not be surprised.
Yes, the effects of medication can be taken into account, the effects must be consistent with the medication and you would need to show that the medication was required.

Hello again everyone.

Can anyone explain how I show that a medication is required? My brother has a non functioning pituitary gland so can't produce hormones naturally so is given synthetic hormones/steroids. Would this be evidence that they are necessary? Cheers.

There are two aspects to this, obviously the medication must be prescribed, the effects of over the counter medicine are unlikely to be considered.
Secondly, an explanation of the effects of not taking the medicine.

Giving him some time for it to sink in and see whether he wants to go to UTT. I think he's got a good chance but it's his decision.
Thanks very much for all the help and support I've received on here, it's been a godsend.
