Is a s PIP Assessment used as a baseline ? was created by annieoh
My Grandaughter has been awarded PIP at Enhanced rate for Daily Living Activities. Although pleased with this, is it worth asking for a re=assessment for one category? She got 0 points.
I think this is incorrect. However, could asking for a Mandatory review put all the award in danger?
The reason I ask is, will this 1st time claim (from DLA to PIP) be used as a baseline for further renewal in 3 years time?
As she has a Learning Disability from birth, most categories will probably stay the same, assuming the system stays the same.
Thank you

Hi Ann,
Congratulations to your granddaughter for getting the correct award.
The assessors typically stop looking at the claim once the number of points needed for the enhanced rate has been reached. Asking for a MR would mean that the whole claim was reassessed. Whilst it is unlikely that someone would go from enhanced to refusal it is possible. Perhaps more likely is that the award could be downgraded to the lower rate. This would be open to appeal but would seem to be an unnecessary risk if the claimant already has an award of the enhanced rate!
It is unlikely that a future assessor would see anything relating to this claim, they are not even told whether they are looking at a new claim or reassessment.
