ESA50 form takes 7 working days to get on system?

I am worried my form will be deemed to be received late.

I have been in the Support Group for several years. I posted my ESA50 form, for reassessment, on the 10th June. It has to be in by the 17th June 2016.

I rang yesterday, Wednesday the 15th, to be told it is not on the system yet and that it can take 7 working days from when the post arrives for it to appear on their computer system. Assuming it arrived Monday the 13th and as they do not work weekends then it may not appear until Tuesday the 21st and so late.

After pushing for information he went away and asked someone else and said the post is date stamped when received and that is what is used when deciding whether your form was sent in on time. I am not sure I believe him as I had to push him into saying it.

Is what he said true? Thanks, Philip.

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I'm glad to say that you were, eventually, given the correct information. It doesn't matter how long it takes for post to work its way through the system, the claimant's responsibility ends with getting the form back to DWP in the stipulated time. As you were told, all post is date-stamped when it arrives, so it is clear for everyone to see.

We recommend everything should be signed for on delivery if you can afford to do so.

Thanks for he reassurance. Yes I should have used recorded delivery. I suppose you would have to use a diffrent envelope for that. I will have to hope the Royal Mail did their job - they usually do.

You can use the same envelope, a different one or you can stick the one you were sent on to the front of a bigger one.

Sometimes I have just been charged the difference between the pre-paid amount and what recorded delivery costs, sometimes I have had to pay the full amount. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason behind it!
