Question about ESA

I have a few questions about ESA though
I had to give up full time work and work part time 16 hours a week from home - I cannot work more than that as due to my disabilities chronic pain, joint hypermobility, pre-diabetes, thyroid, morbid obesity, carpel tunnel, psoriatic arthritis - I literally work an hour rest for an hour or two then work another hour and repeat
I manage 17 hours over the week mon-fri but really it feels like an 8 hour working day because of all the breaks I need to take
Can I claim ESA for not being able to work the full time hours I would be if I were able bodied?
I also need to know if it is income based - as hubby is a policeman

Taking your question literally, then the answer is no! You can only make a claim for ESA if your GP is prepared to issue a Fit Note
The first question would be what is your NI Contribution history? You will need to have paid NI Contributions during the Tax Years 2013-14 and 2014-15 in order to make a claim for Contribution Based ESA.
If you cannot claim ESA(CB) and your husband is working for 24 or more hours a week then you cannot claim Income Related ESA.
If he is not then you may be able to make a claim but it will dependant on your household income, your savings and assets, and any hours that your partner works. See
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)
