Contributory ESA question.. was created by junemason1973@ms
Hi, Does anyone know if this statement from Kit Malthouse is true?
" For people with a permanent condition such as MS, there will also be a really positive change when the 52 week cap on contributory ESA will be lifted, meaning those with savings or a working partner, can continue to receive ESA indefinitely without being means tested, and work themselves up to 16 hours a week. I know this will benefit many people with MS in the future."

Unfortunately another politician who fundamentally does not understand the benefit system and the changes being made to it but stills feel able to make comment.
The 52 week cap he refers to is for Permitted Work while in the WRAG, the Government committed to remove the restriction to bring it inline with the SG where there is already no restriction on the time that PW can be done for.
It is most certainly not the removal of the 365 day limit on the payment of ESA(CB) for claimants not in the Support Group that his press release suggests.
Like many Government promises we are still waiting for the change to actually happen, four months and counting.
