extra info for esa, new illness was created by lisa
Hi, i used your guides and sent off my esa form by the end of january this year, they have to this day, still not decided whether to do paper based assessment (as last time) or face to face, i have got my mp involved to see if he can get things speeded up. Long story short, i have been having tests since feb this year and was diagnosed this week by a rheumatoligist as having fibromyalgia. I am currently in the support group for esa for bipolar/anxiety and i wondered should i let them know of the new diagnosis now or not . Obviously it has impacted on me and my life has been turned upside down , but i was not diagnosed when i got the form so am unsure if i should now include it or not

Having a formal diagnosis will increase the weight given to the limitations that you documented in your ESA50, so it is definitely worth you telling Maximus and the DWP.

Just pen a short letter explaining about the diagnosis, if there have been other changes then you can include this as well. Send a copy to Maximus, the following link has contact information, take a copy to any assessment you have and ask the assessor to read it before they proceed with the interview and send a copy to the DWP office dealing with you claim, marked for the attention of the Decision Maker.

Sending Documents to the DWP or Maximus
