PIP appeal! was created by Milder
Hello I'm new here and wondered if I can have any comments or experience from anyone who may have had a similar situation.
I was awarded middle rate on both counts of PIP on my 1st claim in June 16 at a home visit. I applied to have the mobility part raised to the higher rate in November 16 due to my mobility deteriorating. I attended an interview at a Capita office. As a result my whole claim was revoked. I scored zero on every single count for both mobility and care!! I though this was a mistake although the interviewer seemed stressed and she said she felt unwell and had been having computer problems. She also took a dislike to me as soon as we met. I have had the manual reconsideration. In this I raised each point in turn and explained in more detail about the aids and help I receive, but the person did not comment on any of the details I highlighted and basically just reworded what the original person had written!
I have now taken this to appeal and stated I want to be present and am awaiting an interview date.
I am enquiring to ask if you have been through this and what was your result? I have also heard that a few people who have gone through all this...and have had the decision overturned without/before the hearing had taken place.
I would be grateful to hear your experiences please
Thank you x

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
The success rate at appeal, especially where the claimant attends is significantly higher than at MR with rates well in excess of 50%. One of the reasons for this is that the panel will look at your claim from scratch and will apply a more even weight to the information that they have before them.
You have the opportunity to fill in the "gaps" in your claim, so I would sit down with your PIP2, our PIP Claim guide and the assessment report, if you do not have this then it will be sent as part of the DWP's submission to the Tribunal, to make sure that you have shown that you meet the criteria to score the points you believe you should receive.
