Can anyone help or advise with what I seem to be witnessed at recent assessments and then DWP justification and rationale when making a PIP decision; In taking away the enhanced mobility from clients the assessors and Decision Makers are using the clients ability to drive a Motability car as evidence they can multi task I have just received this in a submission from the SSWP for a tribunal.

The activity of driving a car is in itself a multi-tasking activity requiring significant physical function in terms of grip, power and upper and lower joint movements in conjunction with substantial cognitive powers............

It is considered that if the appellant's functioning was as affected as claimed then they would be a severe danger on the road.

The lady has had three hip replacement her first being in her 20's. She has a myriad of other joint problems that affect her elbows, wrists hands knees hips and spine.

Any thoughts

Welcome to the forum.

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

You don't post any context to your question, not even the benefit being claimed, so it's difficult to provide any sensible feedback.

The DWP's comments are not unreasonable; driving a car requires both physical and mental activity, whether it is relevant to the claimants limitations I can't say without more information.
