Unsure what to do about my DLA was created by Andy
I am currently receiving middle and lower rates of care and motibility segments as written for mainly long term mental health conditions .. ( Depression, Severe Axiety, Panic attacks .. etc)
My health has deteriorated a lot the last couple of years , mainly due to an unexpected back problem
Long story cut short , I have been attending my doctors with back pain now for over two years.. it has gradually got to such a degree of pain I have been referred to several tests, specialists and consultants.. from physio to surgeons to pain management , MRI scans ,X-Rays.. etc
These tests have shown several medical problems the main being a trauma suffered (approx 2 yrs old) through a probable epileptic seizure .. showing several fractured vertebra in my lower back
My question is;
What do I do from here ?
I am frightened I may loose my current benefit if I mess re -assessment up
My current benefit is awarded for mental issues .. this new back problem is physical is it covered under my current DLA claim ... it is so confusing I am not very good with forms ?
Any help will be most appreciated
Regards Andy

Hi Andy and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
I'm sorry that you have so many health problems. I understand that filling out these forms can make things harder
I am a little unclear about what your current situation is.
Are you wondering whether to report a Change of Circumstances to DWP or have you been 'invited' to apply for PIP?
Reporting a change to DWP would trigger a PIP claim. Even if you read the forms and decided not to bother, the process would continue and your DLA end. So I would suggest having a look at our PIP self assessment, scoring yourself harshly and deciding whether to go ahead or leave well alone.
If you have already received an 'invitation' to claim PIP then the process has already started and you need to initiate the claim in the timescale given.
Either way, looking at our PIP guide is a good place to start

Please be patient when your question does not appear straight away. Every message on this forum is read and approved by a moderator before being made public. How long this takes depends on whether the forum is officially 'open', how many moderators are on duty and how busy we are. Repeating your question simply adds to the workload and slows things down further.
