Permitted work while in the support group

I am in the support group, and although I believe I deserve to stay there, I think that this year possibly my DLA will be stopped. reduced PIP, and my ESA will be stopped due to lack of evidence.

I have Emotionally Unstable PPersonality Disorder and attacks of rage where I hurt myself and throw things. I feel that this earns me a place in the support group under exceptional circumstances.

I feel my ESA will be stopped because my CPN has refused to write me the specifically worded evidence required, ie, what would likely happen if I was made to carry out work related activity.
Instead she refused and said I could just use my diagnosis lettter as evidence, but this does not state what the risks could be if I was made to carry out work related activity.

So, while I am too unwell to do an outside day job working with colleagues, due to my inability to work with people without it affecting my mental health, I am considering working from home, doing online jobs like writing or other stuff to supplement my pension income so that I can continue to support myself.
This is because I won't need to leave the house and put my self under stress by spending hours with colleagues, which would stress me too much.

The website called "entitled-to" says the following:
If you are considering starting permitted work you must tell the DWP or Jobcentre Plus and get their approval. The general rule is that these benefits are paid because you are not fit for work and will stop if you do some work.

I know that you are allowed to earn £115.50, but the red text quoted from the entitled-to site confuses me.
I have two questions
1)Will my asking permission to do permitted work trigger a reassessment for ESA as I have not had one since 2013?
2)Is the £115.50 limit monthly or weekly, and will they stop my money altogether if I ask them if I can do permitted work.

Being on benefits is becoming too worrying, even though I feel I deserve them, getting the medical people to do the specifically worded evidence is getting too difficult and stressful for me.

You can do Permitted Work and remain in the Support Group. There is a guide to PW in the ESA section.

You must tell the DWP that you are doing the work so that they can confirm that they are happy with you doing so, this should not result in a reassessment of your claim unless the work you are doing clearly contradicts the limitations that placed you in the SG in the first place. Your doing PW will be considered as a factor at your next reassessment.

The £115.50 is a weekly amount after normal deductions, the income would be liable to tax which you will need to manage yourself.

The Upper Limit also includes a limitation on the number of hours that you can work which must be less than 16 hours a week, exceeding the earnings or hours limit will result in your ESA claim being closed.

Hi Gordon, thanks for your helpful and informative reply. I can refer back to it when i need to.
I did a bit more reading and I think they only let you do some kinds of work.
Online would be ideal for me, so long as there were no pressure.

Sorry I have another question on permitted work.

I've just been reading the rules on this site www.entitledto.co.uk/help/Permitted-Work-Rules

I was thinking of doing online work, but after reading the rules, I am unsure whether or not the DWP would allow 16hrs or less, within the stated amount, doing online work.
Please could you clarify if I am allowed to do online work, provided I stick within the allowed time and the allowed earnings?
I don't feel fit enough to go out and work, and as I have problems relating to people, I would find it difficult spending time with people for hours each day, or even part time offline.
thanks

I can't see anything on the link you posted that would suggest that online work would be a problem. You will either do it as an employee or as self-employed, if the latter then you need to register with HMRC. In either case you need to explain what the job and the pay will be.

Thank you Gordon, if I go down that route, I will notify the JCP and the HMRC if I am classed as self employed. Pretty unwell still though, so benefits might not be stopped.
