ESA assessment was created by karen
I applied in August last year for ESA for my daughter who is 19 &I has Down syndrome. I have been told she would recieve £57 a week whilst she was being assessed since then IVe received nothing except requests for sick notes. I have asked about the assessment as I thought paperwork had been lost but just told there was a backlog.
Today I've just reced a rate stating rate was £57 . Is this correct? I know there are cuts to new claimants re support group but wondered if they are stringing her along so she will only recieve the basic rate?

Can anyone help? Should she be assessed?

The Assessment rate for someone under 25 is currently £57.90 per week.

Have you received and completed an ESA50?

If you have then you are likely waiting for an assessment from Maximus, there are still considerable delays in some areas of the country, you can contact them on the following link.

No we have never been sent the ESA50 assessment form do you know what's happening about the extra support element , is there a cut off point?

You should contact Maximus about the missing ESA50.

Also have a look at the following

Invited to a face to face assessment but no ESA50 sent

I'm not sure what you mean about the "support element" and cut-off point.

Sorry Gordon for not being clearer.
She will never be able to work and is very dependant. So my understanding is that she should be in the support group.
I believe this means extra allowances that are on top of the £57, is that correct.
When I spoke to DWP in Dec I Was told not to worry & there was a backlog for assessments. It's just now I have had this letter with rates on it so I wondered if we were just forgotten or if they aren't going to bother with an esa50 because of benefit changes?

Your daughter will be allocated to the Support Group of ESA if she meets very specific 'descriptors' (these have nothing, directly, to do with the ability to work!). That information is usually collected via an ESa50 and, possibly, a face to face interview.
