I have been awarded my levels of PIP 'indefinitely'. Can someone tell me exactly what it means as I have been reading conflicting information? One definition is that as my condition (MS) is life long and degenerative potentially I would be able to claim some form of PIP for the rest of my life and they are sort of saying that they agree and wont be asking me to review. But another definition says that I can be reviewed at ANY TIME as I haven't been given the award for a specific length of time, so could be reviewed say after 12 months?
I had thought it was better to get an 'indefinite'? If anyone could help I would really appreciate it. Thanks
PIP doesn't have an "indefinite " award so I assume you mean an "on-going" award.
We don't expect on-going awards to be re-assessed any earlier than ten years after the award is made and it may well be longer, however, as PIP is only just approaching it's fourth birthday we don't actually know how this will pan out for claimants.
The PIP legislation allows all claims to be reassessed at any time and for any reasons, but we have not seen the DWP reassess any claim early (if you ignore the one year that fixed term award are being reassessed early), unless there has been a Change of Circumstances.
