Hi I really need some help I have been a full time carer for my partner for a year due to a heart condition and some serious mental health issues. We have now split up as his behaviour towards myself has made me increasingly ill. I am still currently in reciept of cares as he has not asked for it to stop but no this can not continue as he is no longer at my home. I currently have issues with incontinence caused by anxiety and some rather severe depression I would like nothing more than to renter the workplace but right now don't feel able I need advice on how to change my claim from cares to ESA with as little disruption as possible as right now the £62 a week is my only income

The most important thing at the moment is whether you continue to provide the 35 hours of care a week that is required in order to retain your CA award. If you then it is no problem, but if your splitting up means that you can no longer do this then you must consider closing the claim.
Being in receipt of CA does not prevent you making a claim for ESA, in fact it will help yo claim ESA(CB) if that would be an advantage to you providing you were receiving CA throughout the Tax Year 2015-16.
Have a look at the ESA Claim guide for the criteria that you will need to make
If you think that you will be able to continue to claim the CA in the long term then income support would be an alternative to the ESA that you might want to look at.
You will need to face to face advice to see what your options are.

Thanks Gordon I am not really providing any care anymore as our relationship became unworkable and it has caused me some serious health problems. I want to make a claim for ESA while I get myself back together and have the support of my Dr. But I don't really know who to contact and what I should tell them in order to keep the small amount of money I am in receipt of at this time coming in. I may only need to be be in receipt of this benefit short term. But really don't want the stress and worry of being forced into work until I have recovered and my GP whole heartedly agrees.

I'm sorry but if you are not providing the care then you are not entitled to the CA!
