PIP Assessment when in Receipt of War Pension was created by Peter
Hi Folks,
I live in Northern Ireland where we are changing over from DLA to PIP. I received PIP paperwork today notifying me that I am to attend a PIP medical assessment in 2 weeks. However, a fellow Veteran friend told me this evening that as I am already in receipt of DLA, ESA (Support Group), War Pensioners Mobility Supplement and 60% War Disablement Pension, I should be excused the PIP medical assessment. Apparently The Government changed the rules for War Pensioners a few years ago.
Is this correct? Guidance please?
Pete

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I've double checked the N. Ireland legislation in case it had provisions that are different from the mainland version and there is nothing that excuses you from attending the assessment.
I do remember David Cameron talking about something along these lines when PIP was initially being discussed but it is not reflected in the legislation.

I am also in receipt of a 70% War Pension and WPMS, also DLA lower rate and ESA Contributions only, I am wondering when I will be migrated to PIP. I live in England though.

DLA claimants are being chosen at random so there is no way to predict when an individual will be invited, it could be tomorrow or in two years.
