Hi,

I really hope someone can give me some advice who might have had a paper assessment for their Mental Health condition. Is this even possible? I have been given a home assessment at the moment but am very ill and the stress of all this is taking me over the edge as it has with many others here. My Psychologist has said that she thinks there is no way i can cope with an assessment and will write me a letter and try and help me get them to do a paper assessment but does anyone have any idea what she has to say. They were given a doctors letter which they completely ignored so will they just ignore my psychologist even though she is specialist in my conditions? To be honest there would be no point in them coming anyway as i would be a hysterical mess, have a panic attack and certainly wouldn't be able to talk to them.I have never had this problem before with any benefits and they are putting me through hell but from what i have read they are brutal!

Thank you

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

A Paper assessment can only be done if the Assessment Provider believes that they have sufficient information about your limitations to do one.

It's good that your Psychologist is willing to write in support, they need to do two things, obviously explain why a face to face would be detrimental you your health and secondly offer opinion on your ability to complete each of the PIP activities where they can.

There is a GP Notes documents in the PIP sections that might help them understand what you are being asked to meet and allows them to offer their opinion on the problems you would have.
