The assessor needs to believe they have enough information to make a recommendation to DWP. If they believe they do not have this then they will schedule a face2face assessment.
The problem with many medic's letters is that they do not directly address the criteria for ESA. Saying that someone is completely incapable of working is actually not helpful as none of the descriptors ask that question!
Have a look at the descriptors you think apply to your wife and think about there is any other information you can supply in support of this. You can also try contact the Assessment Provider to ask what else they need in order to carry out a Paper Based Review (although many members have found them less than helpful on this score
)
May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your wife's ESA without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too
