Reconsideration Confusion was created by T
Hi,
my partner suffers from Severe Depression and earlier this year we have attempted to claim for PIP, as a suggestion done by people he was going to therapy with.
The claim went forward and was denied - disregarding completely all we had discussed about his day to day struggles! - and I followed the procedure by requesting, in writing, a mandatory reconsideration.
This has now arrived with us, disregarding completely the fact that I was present on his assessment and saying that he did not feel or look anxious and managed to arrive/do all the high stress stuff by himself.
I am frustrated with the DWP (who really isn't?!) but I would really like to take it forward. However, when looking at the paperwork I am under the impression we should've received a a letter titled "Mandatory Reconsideration" and two copies of it.
The letter we have is just a plain assessment letter - like the first one - saying he had not been awarded anything.
I plan to contact the DWP and query this but has this happened to anyone? Am I correct in ringing them to figure out why they didn't send me the official letter?!
Thank you!

You are correct, you should have received two copies of the Mandatory Reconsideration Notice, contact the DWP office dealing with your claim for the missing documents.
