I had my f2f at the Nottingham Capita office, they call it clinic! At least the door was marked Capita it was the accessibility door electronically controled and very narrow. I was on my folding scooter. We had to go up to the 3rd floor. The lifts were very small I had to put the scooter in diangly across and my partner had to wait for the next lift. The doors into the clinic 2 in a single narrow passage both opening at the same time and trying to close before we could get through.
On booking in at reception, I asked for the disabled toilet the nearest one was on the 7th floor! They said I could use the ladies if I could manage.
I couldnt face negotiating the doors and lift again and wandering around a strange building , they didnt offer to show me where they were. This is after a long journey from Leicester made worse by road works and the NCP car park not being disabled friendly. The lifts were even smaller than capitias and my scooter had to be loaded manuelly to fit it in so the doors could close. There were 2 exits both inadequate for disable chair or scooter users. 2 steps at the 1 and a steep short ramp onto an extreemly narrow pavement. Again we had to manuelly get the scooter out of the building.
My assessment was pretty standard. The lady assessor made it quite clear there was not anytime to explain how my condition affected me as we had got 10 things to cover. I had printed off recent medical notes from my GP and letters from specialists who had seen me recently and all my medication. I took these copies and handed them to her. My partner then made very detailed notes.
I asked what her area of expertise was and she said she was an OT. This did become clear that that she was as she knew about auds I could use and she didnt expect me to do much of the physical tests just wether I could do them or not. The meeting was interupted by the receptionist coming in at one point. I didnt catch what it was about. As we were leaving she appologised about the alarm going off for a long time. I didnt hear any alarm! I do not have any hearing problems. Had that have been a real emergency they would have been endagering our lives as they had not carried out health and safety briefs as what to do and where the stairs were and how I was going to be got out of the building. I am going to complain to the welfare rights people about the lack of facilities at their so called clinic for disabled clients. I needed to change my clothes and had to sit through the assessment wet through. If we treated dogs as badly the RSPC would take us to court. I felt rushed through the assessment. Heres wishing for an outcome not affected by the fact it was hometime. I felt more confident about how to explain how my illness affects me and feel I had done the best I could in the circumstances. So fingers crossed.

You should be able to request a copy of the assessment report by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim.

A Decision should take only 2-4 weeks

Yes the phone number will be on any letter that you have had from the DWP about your claim.

Leave it until they put you through to one of the call centre staff, it should now be a free phone number, if using a mobile then check whether this is the case for your contract.
