PIP Mobility. Moving Around.

Can anyone advice, please.

I have a query with PIP, and the Moving Around descriptor.

With the question, "How far can you walk taking into account any aids you use: "between 50 and 200 metres" distance.

In terms of needing to stop before 200 metres, can anyone tell me whether the DWP questions/scrutinises how long you need to stop/rest for to award points.

That is, do you have to stop/rest for a minimum time to qualify for this descriptor?
thanks

There is no definition of what constitutes a stop but there is some Case Law that may help.

So a stop must not be a pause, stopping and then starting again is unlikely to count.

The length of a stop is connected to the distance being walked. These are not agreed on values but as an example; a 30 second stop in a 20m walk is more likely to be considered as significant than the same in a 200m walk.

Stops need to be added into the time that it takes a person to walk a given distance, this would be relevant to both their taking twice as long as a healthy person would take to cover the same distance and walking to a necessary standard.
