Hi,
I am looking for some guidance about what I can do in respect of some bad advice I received from my local Citizens Advice office, back in August 2017.
To summarise, in September 2017 I was diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum, although it had been suggested to me in July of that year to expect to receive a positive diagnosis, from the diagnostic service in which I was being assessed at. In August 2017, I underwent a benefits means test that was conducted by a financial support caseworker at my local CAB. From this, she advised me that I would be ineligible to receive Personal Independence Payment (PIP) as I had not 'scored enough points'. Nevertheless, six months past and I was then advised by the Jobcentre to apply for it, which I did so in February 2018. Although my case was initially refused by the DWP, I was later awarded with both the Daily Living and Mobility elements at the standard rate, in a Tribunal that took place in December 2018.
In any case, I now believe that I was badly advised by the CAB and that as a result of this I have lost out of potentially six months' worth of PIP payments, amounting to almost £2,000. I am therefore wondering what action I could take in respect of this, regarding their advice.
