PIP paper based award was created by Sam
Dear All

I couldn't find my old thread so starting a new one.

I was previously on standard and standard for PIP and had AR1/Review in December. The results are now back.

Increased to enhanced on both for 3 years via paper based assessment. I had 2 doctors and MP demanding a paper based assessment. My local MP and counsellor are both pushing for more paper based decisions to be made, especially when cases are clear cut like mine.

I am pondering on appealing for a longer award but think I'll stick as my private Doctor simply said in 3 years, we go again.

Evidence helps. I sent in a solicitor type 'bundle' along with 3 professionals saying a face to face would be pointless and is out of the question in my case.

I know it's a lottery. I think having a private Doctor who knows how to write reports that sort of sandwich the DWP into forcing their hand to get the right outcome helps. I have a fantastic doctor who I see when funds allow who bullet pointed every descriptor and explained how and why I CANNOT do it. Going on worse days only. The DWP take no prisoners so why should we. Then a supporting letter from GP and psychologist notes and reports from past 5 years all sent in as well as letter from physiotherapist.

Conditions: FIBTOMYALGIA and BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER

Atos were great. They wrapped up the report in 20 mins after phoning my private Doctor.

Again, a private Doctor helps. I cannot stress this enough. Make your intentions clear. You want more than the pathetic 5 minute consultation a NHS doctor can give you and you are claiming PIP and need reports. Get everyone singing from same hymn sheet. No writing to say home visit only if you can't face it due to overwhelming psychological distress then get letters to say PAPER BASED ONLY due to overwhelming psychological distress, if that fits your disgnosis/reason for not being able to attend f2f.

Treat the AR1 or PIP2 as a tribunal in terms of evidence you submit. That's what's helped me over the years.

Best of luck to all

Sam

Congrats ... I did the same and got my private GP to write in for a Paper based. I was okay with Home visit but she said no, Paper based. It got changed to a PBR and the Health Asessors report looks promising but there is long wait. I am in a queue and they are still working on December dates. I am a DLA to PIP transfer hope.!

Wishing you all the best Kirsty. Hope you get similar or better than I did.

I have the brown envelope now.

32 points for daily living
24 points for mobility

I've gone for motability even though it's a 3 year award. The pros outweigh the cons in my circumstances.

I know one can never put anything past the DWP, but to lose enhanced rate in 3 years would surely take some doing.

I'm going to keep seeing my private Doctors and other professionals to assist me with managing my conditions and to keep things consistent with pip.

Congratulations... I've just submitted my AR1 and my GP wrote a letter recommending a paperbased assessment due to similar health issues to you.
How do I go about getting a private doctor please? I have fibromyalgia emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder PTSD and chronic fatigue amongst other issues, I struggle to interact with anyone socially and my GP confirmed this in his letter. I have panic attaks over the phone so hoping they do a pb assessment

Hi stef, or anynone,

If you or anybody else does find out about getting and or how to get a private GP, can you please let me know too. As i find a 10 min appointment with my NHS Doctor, doesn't give me the time to explain to my GP my reasons being there for my appointment, not alone all the descriptor questions in either a PIP or ESA renewal form. Guess it's worth shelling out privately to get the just deserved award.

Thanks for reading.
