Yes Gary I do have to travel. I have arthritis in my neck, back, hips, knees, hands, wrists and feet so I do have to take a lot of medication for this and also hypermobility and hypersensitivity so i'm in pain day and night and it stops me sleeping, waking up at least 3-4 times a night. I can't do ANY task repeatedly without pain, starting as soon as I get out of bed,is this actually what you mean when you say, 'so you need to ask yourself can I do this task repeatedly if the answer is no then you answer no if you cannot do anything asked of you then say so',i assume that means if they ask you to bend over, lift your arms and the like?? Sorry for being a twit but I must make absolutely sure Very much appreciated.
Hi Dawn You are correct, I find that when people go for an assessment they try to please the assessor by doing what they have been asked to do like putting on or taking off a jacket, lifting their arms above their heads or bending over and touching their toes as they believe it will go against them if they don't carry out the task, but in doing so usually goes against the claimants. If you are asked to do anything which will cause you pain then do not do it and explain why you cannot do it. If you have to take extra medication to get through the ordeal then let the assessor know and the reason why. Remember the assessor does not know you, they can only assess you on what you say and what they observe from when you get to the assessment centre to when you leave
