Working in the work related group under UC was created by emmarose35
Hi
I am wanting to know... Would I be in in better financial position being under ESA income related in the work related group as opposed to being in the same group under UC?
I want to know if I am how I would go about moving from UC to ESA.. I was paying taxes up until Oct 18 employed as a nurse...
The rcn advised there would be no financial benefit at the time but my understanding now is under the different systems ie esa and uc there are different rules for work...
Please can you make this clear to me and if I would be better to move my claim?
I have been under UC support group since Oct and am looking to my future...

You can claim NS ESA at the same time as UC it's not an either/or.
The NS ESA will be deducted from your UC as "other income" so unless you have deductions greater than what your NS ESA is then there is no monetary benefit, however, NS ESA pays Class 1 NI Credits which can be used for a future claim of Contribution Based benefits whereas UC only pays Class 3 which can only be used towards a full State Pension,
