PIP Transfer Family Issue was created by Ultravox
Hi, wonder if anyone could advise? I live with my 91yr old Mother and she is currently in Hospital with what they believe to be Menningitis. I am in the throws of starting my DLA to PIP transfer. I have to have my form in by 29th August 19 and I am aware that I can ask for a further 2 weeks if needed. If my Mother was to pass away (which could be in the next few days)what with the Funeral and getting out of our council property and moving into another property do you think the DWP would be sympathetic in extending my time on DLA until I got over the Funeral and moving property. As I do not feel I can cope with the filling out of the form and F2F. My Health problems a long standing mental health. Thanks in advance. Rob.

Hi Rob100
The only people who can answer this is the DWP. If you're able to I would try and ring them now and see how long they will give you. We have heard of some people being given four weeks to complete the PIP rather than two recently, but this is not the norm and only the DWP can say whether in your circumstances they would be prepared to give you longer. The fact that you have been sent the PIP form, means the process has already started and they are unlikely to say you can stay on DLA.

Hi Rob100
I am not sure why you wrote 'getting out of our council property and moving into another property', although we do not give housing advice you may want to seek advice from Shelter, telephone number 0808 800 4444 if you are worried about your housing status.

There are rules about who can inherit the tenancy if you die.The legal process for this is called succession.

Hi Gary,
Meant with regard to the amount of time these sort of issues arranging Funeral and finding alternative accomodation consume with regard to having to fill out the complex PIP form in the time scale given by the DWP.

Hi Rob100
Why do you have to find altenative accomodation, how long have you lived where you are, if over one year then seek advice from Shelter before you do or sign anything.
