Why is the DWP ask for pasport or other home office document . Does they ask for every one? Does this affect your claim. What happen if you don't have a pasdport? I highly appreciate your replay and thank in advance
The reason why DWP sometimes ask for passports or home office documents is because certain immigration status will exclude claimants from specific benefits if they are defined as a 'person subject to immigration control' (PSIC) and they do not come under one of the exemptions.
If you are not subject to immigration control, you also have to pass the residence and prescence tests.
If you do not have a passport and you are a UK National then phone them and explain, if you are not a UK National you will still need to contact them and explain why you have no passport or immigration documents, if this applies to you then you will need to seek specialist advice first.
