PIP=undiagnosed mental health was created by jasonh
I have received my PIP decision. I completed form according to the guide on this website
I scored myself as at least standard rate and at high ends scale
Awarded zero points
My undiagnosed conditions are ADHD and Bipolar. Die to Covid my mental health team assessment have been postponed.
However my GP, who has not been contacted, has made the initial assessment that I have these conditions.
QUESTION:
Do I have to have receive a formal diagnosis or is the information on ‘how my disability affects me’ and if they write to my GP and he supports is this sufficient

Hi Jasonh
The DWP rarely contact the GP - so I am not surprised that this has not happened. If you are going to put in for a mandatory reconsideration you will need to get a letter from your doctor stating what he thinks your diagnosis is and the difficulties this gives you. Without a letter - it will undoubtedly be rejected.
Have you seen the assessment report to understand why you weren't given any points at all? If you haven't got it - then you need to ring up the DWP and request it. You have one month from the date of the decision letter to put in for a Mandatory Reconsideration.

Hi , I wanted to feedback to forum of how I went from zero to the maximum award of both care and mobility. The DWP cannot scan photos. So the photos of my muscle wasted ankles and feet spread to left and right were never seen.
I wrote to my MP as totally amazed by the above admission. Combined with me enclosing my PIP application and my scoring the mandatory reconsideration gave full award.
Thanks to BIS for feedback too

Hi jasonh,
Fantastic news, well done!
Unfortunately the difficulty you have had in achieving your benefit is not unique, and it is clear that often DWP makes some very poor decisions. However, I am sure that other claimants will be inspired by your good news, to continue with their own claim, so they too can eventually get the benefit to which they are entitled. It is just a shame that claiming benefits is at times so difficult!
Thanks again for your news. Well done!
