PIP review process timings was created by MsJane
Hello!
My PIP review form is meant to be returned by the end of August and I sent it back about a week ago. Not expecting anything to be done with it yet but I was just wondering do they still acknowledge receiving it with a text message? When it reaches the deadline, should I follow up as to whether they’ve received it or just wait and see?
Does anyone know how long the review process tends to take in none COVID times? Also, while the review is being done, will I still continue to receive my PIP and my ESA premium?
My award ends in November (although they did send a letter extending it to February not long before the review form arrived) so I’m getting a bit nervous about how tight they’ve left it.

Hi MsJane
It is a mix message we are receiving, some members are receiving a a text others are not, I would contact DWP to make sure that they have received your form, did you send it by recorded delivery? If you did, do a quick on line check to see when it was delivered.
The reviews vary in time, last I heard was 12 weeks, until a decision is made then you will still receive your PIP, as you are still in receipt of PIP then your ESA premiums will continue.

Thank you for the reply! I feel so stupid because I never thought of sending it recorded delivery. The deadline is in three days so I am getting very nervous now. I think I will ask someone to call up on my behalf (as I cannot talk over the phone) and see if it has arrived.
What should I do if they say they haven't received it?
I'm very worried delays with the post or their internal systems means the deadline will be missed. The letter they sent out to me with the review form took 12 days to get to me going by the date on it so I was already at a disadvantage with the four weeks to return it (which is why I filled it in asap and sent it back with as much time as possible for it to arrive).
What happens if the form does arrive late? Do we know of there is any leniency due to COVID and the effect it may have had on the post?

Sorry for two replies but I just thought of a question I forgot to ask! If I have to request a deadline extension, do they provide proof of said deadline extension if they agree to one? Is there anything I need to make sure I say when making the request?
Thank you again for all your help.

Yes, get someone to ring for you, you will need to be available to answer the security questions and to authorise the DWP to talk to the person but they can then take the rest of the call.
Don't try and compare the time it takes for you to receive a letter from the DWP to the time it will take for your form to logged as received, it should have been marked as received the same day as it actually was.
An extension will be logged on your computer record but there won't be a letter or text sent in confirmation.
There is nothing special you need to ask in regard to an extension.
