There have been considerable delays in the ESA assessment process so it is possible that this assessment is based on the form completed 18 months ago, it is also possible that the assessment is being done without a form being issued, there is no legal requirement for one to be sent.

Realistically, you are not going to be able to provide a completed form by Friday so my best advice at the moment is making sure that he is familiar with the criteria that he will be assessed against and how his conditions and limitations affect his ability to complete the ESA activities.

Try and make some bullet points for each activity that he would hope to score for but don't get carried away this needs to be something simple enough for him to refer to while on the phone.

We have not had any real feedback on ESA/UC telephone assessments but do for PIP, obviously the criteria is different but there is a lengthy section in our PIP Claim guide that covers telephone assessessments which it would be worth your having a look at.

Hi Johninpain

I would get in touch with the DWP and say what happened and say that you are worried that it would appear he was not ready to take part in the telephone assessment even though he was. They should be able to advise you what to do next.
