Hi Actonjon
This is happening to a lot of claimants. The DWP have sent out one or two extension letters to claimants whose awards are up for renewal - so that people don't find themselves without money, because of the inevitable backlog. However, they are still proceeding with reviews and people would normally receive their forms anything from 6months to a year before the end date. Yours has been sent out in October - 6 months before the proposed end - April 2021.

My original award was to finish 31 Oct 2020
Extended April 2021
But in September review for sent filled it in
While waiting now to see if I going to have a telephone or paper assignment
This extended award letter arrived Saturday to extended to 2021 July
So my question is
Am I still going to reviewed
It’s 8 week today sent review form back
Had help from a Mind to fill in form
They said wording confusing and they haven’t seen or heard from clients with this type of letter
My blue badge runs out in April I bet wait

Hi Actonjon
Yes, you will still be reviewed - even though you got the second extension. It's a safety net for their system to get it processed. Your form is in the system. When that will happen no one knows. Unfortunately, eight weeks of your form being in the system is not unusual. You will hear of some being processed quickly, but some are taking months. There is no obvious rhyme or reason for the differences - except for the availability of staff in different regions and where the backlogs are.
MIND may not have heard of this type of letter - but you are at least the tenth person I have read on the forum who have received the same type of letter.

I'm in the same situation. Award due to end 31 October. I had a letter in July stating my award had been extended until April. Then a review form came through end July giving me 2 weeks to get it back to them. This Saturday I get a letter stating my award had been extended until July and this morning I get a telephone message from Crapita asking me to call them back, no doubt for an assessment.
I'm a mess. I hate using the phone and my last assessor lied through her teeth In 2017. I had to write a four page letter of challenge but never got my full DLA award back. They make it as much a nightmare as humanly possible.
