PIP Mobility was created by patsy166
In June 2020, having been awarded standard rate for mobility and care, I asked for a review and today received the letter stating I have been awarded enhanced rate for care which is brilliant.
In my first application three years ago I was awarded 10 points for moving around but no points for planning and following a journey.
The same thing has happened this time no points for planning and following a journey.
Now apparently the assessor can’t award more points because of my age! I am 66 years old.
I went to tribunal the first time but they refused to change my award.
I had spent almost a year fighting for a change to my mobility award and I was mentally and physically exhausted.
I should have been given the extra points for mobility because I have complex mental health issues and autism and severe PTSD. Anxiety and depression.
I have Fybromyalgia and CFS and Spondylosis in my spine neck and shoulders and Osteoarthritis in my left knee. I have never been able to plan or execute a journey in my life. I can get lost in my house. I have support from my son to go out everywhere because I can’t remember the route or understand timetables or maps or directions from other people. If anything changes to the route I have a meltdown and I’m classed as a vulnerable adult. These things I have always had and after the awful experiences I had with the first assessor and the tribunal I was too scared and anxious to try and change it. Things haven’t suddenly changed since the first award because I’ve always had poor working memory and autism. I have requested a mandatory reconsideration for my mobility award but not sure what to do now. I need someone to explain to me how we’re getting to places and what will happen when we arrive. My Psychologists report said It is not safe for me to go out alone. I didn’t have a Psychologist or social worker last time but I’ve recently been allocated a social worker.
Sorry for the long message but I’m desperate for help.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Patricia
I'm afraid I haven't got very good news for you here. Once you have been awarded a standard rate of mobility, it cannot be increased to enhanced after state pension age which you have reached being 66. There is nothing you can do about this. It's the rules.
