First pip review. was created by Grumpytrucker
Hello first post.
Had my first review for PIP. They kept it at the standard rate so I did not lose anything and I got it for longer, 3 years.
But it is their attitude that annoys me.
Planning and following a journey, i had a really serious HGV accident, even though I have said I need someone with me and need a sat nav, I get really nervous now. They decide because I can leave the house then I can plan and follow the route of a journey unaided.
If I fall I cannot get up off the floor.
They say there is no input from there falls team (did not know one existed) am I supposed to call an ambulance if I fall, baffled me has that one, but not as much as, they say I can walk around a supermarket, now where has that come from I have never mentioned anything about shopping. In fact I either have it delivered or do click and collect..
It is not about the extra money or being able to get a motability car it is their attitude towards people.
How.can I reply to that I need to do something.
Kevin
I had a bad accident and damaged my sciatic nerve and a few other things but I can't feel my right leg below the knee or move my foot..

Hello Kevin
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
Are you thinking of challenging the decision? If you are you need to put in for an MR within a month of the decision letter. I'm not sure from what you say whether you have seen the assessment report or you are just reporting from your letter. You can request a copy of the assessment report and see the details behind the decision.
I would also look at the PIP guide pages 56-63 which details what court rulings have said about the Going Out question and make sure you are clear where you think you should have scored points and why. The planning of a journey is always a tricky one as it is mainly a sensory question (blindness) and you do not actually have to take the journey to plan it. I suspect your past experience makes them say you have no issues with this.
Interesting about the 'falls team' that's a new one on me too. However, it is not the symptom itself (eg the falling) but how it affects your daily life that they are interested in. Eg - how often does it happen, how do you get up, what is the impact afterwards? If you have a fear of falling does it stop you being able to have a shower or bath? Obviously, there is a safety issue if you are falling, but they will be particularly interested in the frequency. If you didn't make it clear you will need to, or re-emphasise the effect on your life. You will need to demonstrate that it affects you for the majority of the time.
They obviously made assumptions about your ability to shop - I don't know what you said about when you do go out and where you go when you reach your destination. Unfortunately, wrong assumptions are often made.
Just be aware of how you describe your mobility issues when stating that you drive. A couple of members have found the DWP have contacted the DVLA to say the person is not safe to drive. They may well argue that if you can't use one foot you should not be driving at all unless you have an adapted car.

Hello Bis.
Thank you for.the reply. Absolutely no point in appealing it, I didn't lose anything just kept what I had, I have found being like I am pa massive learning curve, in the way of getting things.
Nobody tells you anything or guides you.to help, you have to do your own research and I am very grateful to this site.
It is their attitude towards.all of us. Their job seems to be to save money not help us. And it is all about learning how to fill the forms In.
And I do have an adapted car that was highly entertaining learning to drive with my right foot.
Thanks for the reply again
