I have been claiming ESA for physical and mental illness . I have a pelvic organ prolapse which gives me pain and bladder and bowel incontinence and anxiety and depression. I had a telephone assessment and was not placed in any group as they said there was not enough evidence . I am on contributory based as I have worked for 41 years and never claimed any benefit . I rang dwp and they said to ask for a mandatory reconsideration which I have done but all this uncertainty is making me worse . I have also claimed pip submitted form sent in same evidence and not heard a thing . Is this usual ? They say it’s with the ha and to allow another ten weeks in the meantime I’m anxious worried and scared and feel like my family would be better off without me

Hi OscarPoppy
I'm sorry that you are having such a bad time at the moment. I am absolutely sure that your family don't think they would be better off without you. If you're struggling please reach out to your family or the Samaritans.
You didn't say when you sent your PIP form, so I can't comment on whether it is normal, but it can take up to eight weeks to start processing a new claim. Have you checked that your form has been received? They used to send out text messages to people who put a mobile phone number on their form, but that hasn't been happening recently. If you sent it by tracked post you can see from those records that it was received. If you haven't got confirmation that your form has been received, you should give them a ring and ask.

Dear OscarPoppy, you are right, it is dehumanising and cruel. However on here you will find masses of support from people who have had horrible experiences too. My friend says the DWP do not exist to help people. They are simply a front to save the UK Government from being 'done' under international Human Rights law for it's inhumane treatment of disabled people. He should know, he has had to go to multiple Tribunals to get to having lifetime disability benefits. He's now trying to help others and keeps finding DWP send their papers to the claimant instead of him, even though it's clear the papers should go to him, very suspiciously often....
Hope to hear of progress with your problems over the next months, best regards, Denby

Was this a new claim or a reassessment of an existing award?

Hi Denby,
Whilst I understand that you believe that all of your post help people, I really do think that maybe you should not put such negative posts on, especially for people with their new claims. I think that putting that "he has had to go to multiple tribunals " would be very off putting to some that have not been through the process before and maybe make them think it is not worth the trouble. I am not saying don't post anything because in the main you can be encouraging, just maybe be mindful of what you do say and how it may come across to new people?
Kind regards
