Pip award notice letter was created by bridget Nicholls
Hi.My background is that previously I had lifetime DLA award for my chronic illness and I then had Higher rate PIP care and mobility. I am now sick with worry. My PIP was previously for 3 years. I was supposed to be reviewed before December 2020 but got an extension letter in October, for my PIP to carry on till 27 September 2021. The following week I got a letter to say my PIP award was being reviewed and to fill in the P7210 form and return by 27th November.
I was until Dec 2nd Shielding as a clinically extremely vulnerable person under government advice and therefore couldnt get the help I needed to fill in the form and gather evidence.
After days of terror I managed to phone the PIP on 23rd of November and got through to a woman who told me that under the circumstances I could have an extension til 5th Feb to fill my form out. I then got my brother to post a letter to PIP to confirm this conversation. I now have a letter saying that my pip has closed on 5th December as I never returned the form. I am beside myself and dont know what to do for the best. Please help me, Im all on my own with this as cant get to the CAB during covid times... they usually help me with this form.

Hi bN

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I've moved your post to its own topic, we ask members not to post their questions in other member's topics as it can lead to the wrong advice being given or taken.

I am sorry to hear your plight but unfortunately you are not alone. When you spoke to the lady at the DWP did you take their name, have you been in contact with DWP to see why they have sent you this letter, it may have been sent to you in error, do they have a record of your call on the 23rd November? Have you got a copy of the letter sent to DWP, did you send it by recorded delivery?

Depending on the outcome when you contact DWP you may want to get your MP involved as they can speed things along.

There have been some changes to the PIP criteria since you were last assessed so please make use of the latest version of our PIP Claim guide. Did you keep a copy of your last application form, usually if CAB help you they will make/give you a copy.

If you have any specific questions then please come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.

Hi Bridget.

I would suggest you call DWP again and ask about this new letter. Its possible it was generated in error by their computer system but you must make contact with them to confirm. Once you have spoken to someone I hope it eases your mind.
