Esa support group was created by Patrick
I’ve been awarded esa work related contribution based in Feb 2020 which was backdated to commence from Dec 2019. I sent the form off with further medical info etc in March 2020. They received ok and I have been in contact with DWP SINCE JUNE 2020. My esa payments have now stopped as I have reached the 1 year limit. Finally got an appointment for a telephone assessment for11th Jan 2021 then on the day the phoned to reschedule due to staff shortages until 6th February
Has anyone else been waiting nearly 11 months for assessment.
I have already been awarded PIP ON 15th July 2019. Including standard daily living allowance. Do I still have to have telephone assessment or can they not look at my pip forms.
Regards
Patrick

Hi Patrick
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is.
Welcome to Benefits and Work .
You are in receipt of CB ESA and in the assessment phase. Usually the assessment phase is for 13 weeks but we have heard on the forum members with the same problem as you.
If you are placed in the support group then your CB ESA will be put back in payment with the relevant premiums unless you have applied for UC.
They will not look at your PIP assessment, so you will have to undergo another assessment for ESA. There was talk of merging these assessments but the last I heard the merger was cancelled.
In order to qualify for the Support Group you need to;
* meet one or more of the relevant descriptors, or
* meet one of the associated Exceptional Circumstances rules.
The Support Group descriptors and the Exceptional Circumstances are listed in the Claiming ESA guides in the members area.
