In order to support our local post office which we fought long and hard tos ave from closure, I decided to have me PIP and pension paid into the post office; the only problem being that you can only withdraw £600 at a time so if I missed a week I couldn't get the money out without going numerous times. During this pandemic I haven't felt safe or able to queue in the rain. I finally, reluctantly decided I had to change payment to my bank. I couldn't keep shopping online without topping up my bank account. After trying 6 times to ring them, yesterday I finally managed to get through but what a nightmare; a full 10 minutes of menus and press 1,2 7 or whatever. Finally it rang and instantly cut me off. Tried a different number only to get put back to the first. It took 3 calls then 45 minutes on hold before I spoke to someone.. The change was quickly and easily done but even though I was told years ago that my pension and PIP payments were linked, she couldn't change my pension. Yet another phone call which got through ok but then another 37 minutes on hold. If you have to ring DWP, be prepared to be stuck on the phone literally for hours.. However I will still have to make several more trips to the post office before the payments move.. She did tell me they are determined to end payments to post office accounts.
