Ways to Help with Depression, etc... was created by Mark
Hi
[Not sure if this post will be allowed due to possible advertising.]
I used to give blood. Managed to get to 50 (which was very satisfying) before I had a DVT and sometime afterwards blood clots on both lungs. Now that I am taking anti-coagulants for life that put an end to giving blood.
Recently I came across an app (App Store). Android probably has it as well. It’s called ShareTheMeal. Part of the World Food Fund. The idea is to feed as many people in the world as possible. Been around for a few years now. You can give as little as 67p to feed one person.
I for one find it very helpful. Whenever I feel down or depressed knowing that I can give a little bit here and there whenever I can afford it helps to lift me out of depression. I’m not into the whole social media thing but those that are can integrate it into the app.
Obviously there are other ways to help, other charities, but this one works for me. In a way I suppose makes me want to overcome my issues. Maybe make me more motivated to work if and when I come off benefits. I think it makes me feel like I have a purpose in that I can look back in years to come and think of all the people I’ve helped to feed.
Regards.
Mark.

I think when we're struggling with our own issues, whether these are physical, emotional, psychological or any combination of these, we can easily forget there are others in similar or even worse situations.
If giving in this way lifts your mood, that's a good thing. Whenever I feel myself spiralling downwards I do something similar, I double my regular contribution to my local foodbank. From my misery, hopefully some benefit is received by someone who is in (to my mind) even greater need. I'm very fortunate (and I know this) to have never been hungry or wondering from where my next meal would come. To me that is terror, and playing even the smallest part in relieving that terror in someone else helps me too.
Take Care.
