1st Line Medication was created by KatB
In my assessors report for pip being removed it says as 1 of their justifications is in only on 1st line medication and it hasn't changed from last time even though I stated verbally and in writing that fluoxetine had been doubled, can someone shed some clarity on this for me please. Thanks

Hi Kat
You need to highlight any inaccuracies in your assessors report, you need to explain why your medication has doubled and the impact it has on you. This is why we ask members to apply for their assessment report before they apply for a mandatory reconsideration.
I always go through an assessors report when doing a MR carefully with a highlight pen marking bits that my client does not agree with and noting down why. If you have a copy of your repeat prescription highlight the drug, if you have an old prescription highlight the same drug.
Have a look at our PIP Claim guide for a better understanding of the criteria you will need to meet, these have recently been updated.

Thanks for replying, I asked for the MR and the assessors report on the same call I was a bit eager, and asked them for 1st class post so I could address it asap, they did so I got it the next day.
I'm glad you said use a highlighter because I already have been it makes it so much easier to digest.
I highlighted things that were not true even parts that went in my favour, although its counter intuitive I want the next decision maker at the MR to see the colossus errors that have been made at my telephone assessment, do you think that is a good idea or am I shooting myself in the foot?
Also, what constitutes 1st line medication? And why does it matter that its, and I quote "only first line medication"?

Hi Kat
First-line medications are the medications that doctors normally choose to treat a person's medical condition because they are the ones known to be the most effective with the least side effects. (There are many first-line medications used to treat all sorts of different medical conditions)
There is nothing wrong in being treated with first-line medications - a lot of people are. As your dose has doubled a fact that they ignored - you need to argue that your original dosage has not been effective and highlight once again the issues this has left you with in terms of fulfilling the PIP criteria.
Second-line medications are used when first-line haven't worked.
You have stated that your assessment report is full of errors - those that have been damaging and those that may be favourable. I would look at it a little differently. Where did you not score points and you think you should have done? These are the areas that it is important to focus on - so you deal with those first and you counter their mistakes and incorrect assumptions with the evidence you have already given them, or any additional evidence you have.
Any other issues can always be mentioned in the final paragraph. But don't get tied down with things that won't make a difference to any possible award.
