Pip review due was created by CD123
Hi everyone
Sorry if this has been asked before. I have received a review form for pip and in the middle of completing the form and gathering my evidence. I am just wondering if I should mention on the form that I tried returning to work part time but am currently off again on long term sick as I found it too much? I have sick papers I can include copies of. Or is it better not to mention this? I’m wondering if they will ask me about work during my assessment anyway so is it better
to be transparent and up front or wait until I am asked?
Thanks very much in advance

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi CD123,
It is highly likely that an assessor will ask about work. As you may be aware PIP is a points based benefit that relates to various specified activities. If you can show that the reasons for giving up work relate to PIP activities, such as fatigue, moving about, engaging with other people etc then evidence of not being able to work is likely to be relevant to PIP. Maybe you have a medical report about not being able to work, this may also be relevant.
There is no doubt that having evidence will help your PIP claim or review, but try to limit this only to what is strictly relevant. If you haven't done so recently, gave a look at the members guides which provide more detailed information as to what to include.
Hope this helps, good luck with your review.

Hi, thank you so much for your reply. I was thinking they will probably ask about work and want to be as transparent as possible. So maybe writing it on my form will help show this. I do have a report from my employer which lists the reasons and symptoms as to why I am not working at present so I will include this. The only thing is, I am still classed as employed and haven’t given my job up yet but on long term sick. Im hoping it won’t go against me.
Thanks again
Catherine

Hi Catherine,
I apologise, I misunderstood, thinking you were totally off work. However, I don't think it makes any difference, just say that you are currently on long term sick.
Have you thought of your employment options going forward? Depending on the nature of your work, you might be able to work part time if this can be agreed.Your current employer, or indeed a new one will have to make 'reasonable adjustments' to allow you to get back to work, if this is can be done. However, if you have been on long term sick leave, it may be your employer and /or GP might feel that continued employment is no longer viable, at least at present. Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) is a benefit for people who have long term illness/disability or who can no longer work. There is information about ESA within the members guides on this website, in case you need further help.
