Benefit rate changes letter was created by zannagodfrey
Hi there.
I received the usual yearly letter a few weeks ago informing of the weekly rate of benefit which starts in April 2021. The letter then went on to state that, as from November 2021 the weekly rate will fall by £67.30. I'm terrified. I just cannot understand why my weekly rate is due to drop by this amount, or at all for that matter. I'd like to ask if anyone else has had a letter like this please? Or does anyone know what on earth is going on? I cannot face telephoning the DWP just at the moment, my anxiety levels are through the roof just thinking about it. I would be really grateful for your thoughts.

Hi phoebemax
I haven't heard of anyone receiving this letter, but that doesn't mean no one has. It is very strange and it may just be a typing error, but you need to find out the truth. If no one says they have received the same letter, you will need to ring. I understand your stress levels are out of control, but they will get worse if you don't find out what is happening.

Hi phoebemax,
I would agree with BIS, best to find out what's going on rather than worrying about it, it might just be an error.
It would also be useful to check first and see what type of award you are on and when it is due to be reassessed, the dates might tie in with this?

Hi phoebemax
I am sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue, You have told us this is the usual annual benefit 'uprating' letter we all get. If it is then the letter should show how your benefit has been worked out. The figure of £67.30 you gave rang a bell with me. It could be a coincidence I suppose but £67.30 is the new rate for the 2021/22022 benefit year of the :severe disability premium' (SDP). As it happens I receive SDP myself within my ESA payment and this is shown in my 'uprating' letter. Fortunately in my letter there is no suggestion that this payment is to be withdrawn! I agree with kateb that is would be a good idea that you check what award you are on. I also suggest that you carefully re-read the letter you received and re-check all the various figures given. Is it possible you may have misunderstood the letter? I hope this may be of some help and that you will be able to resolve this issue soon.
Kind regards
Mr B ps oh and before I forget you will find all the new 2021/22 benefit rates at the following link. www.gov.uk/government/publications/benef...n-rates-2021-to-2022
