Hi diceman24,
Thank you for your post. I can appreciate that you are concerned about transferring from DLA to PIP.
If you can only move up to 20m, then it is likely you will be able to receive 12 points, which is sufficient to receive enhanced (high) rate of PIP mobility. It will not matter if occasionally you can walk further than this. The fact that you need to use a wheelchair for over 20m is also good evidence. Other things such as speed, how you walk, pain levels, balance, and fatigue should all be taken into consideration.
PIP is worked out on a different basis to DLA. DLA care element is based on the time/amount of care needed throughout the day. PIP is based on points, but still keeps the Daily Living element (care) separate from Mobility as with DLA. 8 points gives the standard rate, 12 points is enhanced. If you haven't already read the members guides, please have a look, there's a lot of information about claiming PIP.

At some stage you will be invited to claim PIP. Maybe you have received the letter? You won't be transferred automatically you do actually have to claim.
I hope this helps. Good luck.
