PIP phone assessment (to be rec by HCP) was created by Vince Raymondo
Today I received a text telling me a date for my telephone assessment.
I promptly phoned IAS and asked them to confirm they would be phoning my landline number. Despite me calling before and having put it on file I wanted the assessor to phone landline they had no record of this.
Next I asked for my phone assessment to be recorded and I was told they would have to cancel my current assessment date because only a select few of their HCP's have access to recording equipment so I agreed and am now waiting on a new date.
My question is, does anyone here have any specific experience of this (obviously this is a new thing to 2020/1 due to on-going situation). My experience of a previous in-person ESA assessment that was recorded seemed more favourable. I, like many others, have had bad experience with pip HCP in the past. I will also be covertly recording my assessment as I do not trust them. Did I do the right thing?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Yes Vince, you did the right thing.
It will mean that you have to wait longer for your assessment, but if you can do that, then it is not a problem. We have heard accounts of people asking for a HCP recording who have been through the process you describe but after a period of time are offered an appointment without a recording facility, so you might have to be prepared to stand your ground. But you sound like someone who is ready and willing to do that.

Hi Catherine, thanks for your reply.
Absolutely willing to wait, I've already been waiting since November so I figure what difference does a few more weeks/month make really? As mentioned, do not fully trust the process and I feel (wrongly or rightly) that with the HCP knowing they are being recorded stops them from acting too far out of line.

There is an undisputable logic to that!

Hi Vince, in our daughter's 2 experiences it didn't stop the assessor lying through their teeth being recorded. But it did stop them getting away with it! [Enhanced x 2 at appeal both times].
Hope you can cope without the money until back-pay if they keep you waiting that long; we were bank of mum and dad in the interim. Best wishes, Denby
