Advice re PIP please was created by Barbarag
If I can just give an update please...
After summonsing up the courage, I contacted the DWP, and spoke to a gentleman. I say gentleman, as he was very pleasant and courteous, and immediately agreed to send me the report, explaining it amounted to 30 pages which he would print off and send out in the post. He did caution me and say any decision would not necessarily reflect the content of the report.
The report arrived just a few says later, and upon scrutiny I found some inaccuracies in the actual telephone interview, although the general tone appeared supportive.
I added up the points awarded and comparing them with the guide saw I was assessed as enhanced rate of daily living component and 8 points for moving around which if enabled would award the basic mobility award.
As you can imagine, my heart has been in my mouth these past weeks. I am yet to receive a decision letter, but when checking my online bank account saw that yesterday a substantial amount has been deposited by the DWP!! This has come as a great relief and a pleasant surprise as this suggests I have been awarded at least something.
A concerning issue for me is on the report it recommends that this be reviewed in 10 months, as I am in a pain management programme and therefore likely to improve if further surgery or change of medication is effective on my condition (s) I cant see this is the case, as a number of my conditions are degenerative.
If I may be permitted to trouble you with a further question? In a few months time I will be of State Pension Age. I seem to recall reading somewhere that this may then promote my award on to a system whereby frequent reviews are less likely. Can I be advised of the situation in my case?
Finally, a massive thanks to the support the site has provided. I found the guides instrumental in my application which I assume has been successful at least in part,

Hi Barbarag,
This sounds like very good news! Well done. I am glad that you found the guides helpful. You should be awarded backdated payments dating back to date if claim or last payment if this has already stopped.
It is entirely possible that reviews are less frequent after 65, my experience is that this hit and miss!
When you get your award, check your mobility rate carefully. After 65 this cant be increased, so whatever rate you get now, (or after an appeal if required) will be the maximum you will always get going forward. Of you are sure that the mobility award us correct now, and your mobility needs don't change before your birthday, that's OK but If you get no or standard mobility rate now, and this is below what you be getting, then you may wish to consider an appeal. Daily living rate can be increased post 65.
Thank you for sharing your news.

Hi Barbarag,
Just to add a slight correction, it's when you reach State Pension age not 65 www.gov.uk/state-pension-age
