Pip Assessment tomorrow. was created by Lpot50
It looks like my Pip Assessment is finally going ahead tomorrow.
Lets hope it's third time lucky.
Two questions, do I only describe bad days? I'm worried mentioning a better day may go against me.
Also. I requested the assessment be recorded and I have heard some mention the assessor claimed not to be aware of this.
If this happens, do I have the right to ask for it to be rearranged?
Thanks
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
Firstly good luck tomorrow!
Dealing with recording- you have requested this, and can insist this happens. However, you have said the assessor claims not to be aware. Well he/she obviously is now! The assessor may use this as an excuse to postpone again, or alternatively might get irritated and insist you proceed without recording. UnfirtunatelyvI think this is just a case of wait and see!
Bad days, better days....this is a tricky one! I think the answer is how often are the better days? Also exactly how much better are they? As you are aware talking of better days will be seized upon by the assessor, who is then likely to conclude your ability is per your better days. If the difference is not particularly great and/or the better day is very infrequent, then ignore this. If the assessor specifically asks eg'is this the same every day?' You will need to answer, but be careful! PIP points are awarded on how you do activity for the majority of time, so this is what you need to focus on.
I hope this helps.

Hi LL26
Thank you for the reply.
There is not much difference on a better day. Apart from maybe being able to stay out of bed a little longer. I am recording it myself also, but obviously I will only be able to use this for personal reference. I will just be glad to get it over and done with. It's been a long and agonising wait.
Thank you so much for the advice and best wishes.

Hi Lisa
If you have a look at our PIP guide at the link below you will see that there are 9 pages which include advice on telephone assessments. Yes, a lot of the questions are those that would have been asked if you had a face to face assessment.
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants
But here are some practical things to do.
Write yourself a bullet point list of any particular points you want to get over, so you have it by you during the assessment.
Make sure you can take the call in a comfortable place but also somewhere where you can spread your papers out, as you may be asked about your support documents, without them going all over the place.
Have a glass of water or better a jug in easy reach if needed, so you don't get a dry throat and lose your voice!
Make sure you understand the criteria that you are being assessed against.
Let us know how you get on. Good luck
Gary

Thanks Gary
I have already gone through the Pip guides and made some notes.
They have been really helpful.
I have copies of my review form with the evidence I sent in.
My son has printed the question list
so I will have it in front of me and I have downloaded and tested a recording app on my phone.
I just can't wait for it to be over
Thanks again for the advice and support.
I will let you know how I get it goes. If I live to tell the tale.
