PIP Award Review Form & supporting letter from G.P

Hi,
I recently received a ‘PIP Award Review’ form – even though in Sept I received a letter saying my PIP had been extended to Jan 2022. So it came as quite a shock and had a very bad effect on my mental health. Thanks to B & W, I have discovered that I am not alone in receiving this unexpected form.
I have two questions about supporting evidence & would welcome any advice.
In the past, I was fortunate enough to get a supportive letter from my G.P to go with my PIP and ESA applications.
However, on this new Review Form, on page 6, it has a page about what supporting information to send and ‘What NOT to send’.
Under ‘What to Send’ , it says ‘Reports or care or treatment plans from:’ …..and then a list of people including ‘GP or consultants’ , ‘Carers and family members’
In the box under ‘What NOT to send’, they write, ‘A supporting letter from your GP’ (amongst other things).
I am totally confused about this! When I phoned to ask for an extension (as the form had been in the post for 2 weeks), I asked whether to send a supporting letter from my GP and was told ‘yes’. I then told the woman what was on the form and she couldn’t explain it.
Do you suggest I go ahead and see if I can, as in the past, see if I can get a supporting letter from my GP. I really don’t understand why the form says not to send it!

Secondly, I have been under the care of a psychiatrist. I have about 3 reports that he has sent to my GP in the past year. These give a good picture of my mental and cognitive problems, including extreme anxiety and how it makes me isolated (which relates to difficulty mixing with people in PIP). But is it worth me including one or more of those letters? It does have a care plan, so maybe I should send the whole letter. I don’t know whether it is worth trying to get a separate letter – or even if it is possible given the time scale - I need to try to post everything so it arrives by 16th March.
Thank you so much for all your help. I have found the guides here invaluable.

Hello oceanwave and welcome to forums.

Basically my answer is YES. Yes, try and get a letter from your GP and unless the three letters from your psych are duplicates I would send in all three. All are very strong relevant supporting evidence and you should not risk not presenting them with your review.

If you have not already done so, I would recommend looking at our Guide to PIP Claims and Reviews. It is full of useful information.

Sorry for such a short answer after your long post, but it really is that simple.
