Please can anyone throw any light on this. I am deviating from the purpose of this forum so moderators I understand if you prefer not to post this.
My son who is a carer for me has received a NHS letter offering the covid vaccination as a carer for a person who is clinically vulnerable to Covid19. He cares for me.
My GP does not have me in the clinically vulnerable covid19 vaccination priority group 6,
Do you think the NHS could be using PIP and ESA Award files to decide who is clinically vulnerable to covid19?
I believe I am vulnerable and should be in group 6 due to mental health , but I am wondering whether GPs are properly informed as to which mental health conditions are relevant to group 6.
So I have no vaccination invite from the NHS or my GP, yet am being deemed as clinically vulnerable to covid in the text of my son/carers vaccination invite.

Hello Cruella,

You are right, your question is outside the scope of this site, and it is certainly not something I know anything about. I have however approved your post in case any of our community can give you the answer.

There have been a few reported cases in the media whereby carers both paid (it's their job) and unpaid (family and friends) have received a vaccination when the cared-for have not been eligible. It doesn't make sense but it does seem to be happening across the country.

Hi Cruella, not exactly an answer I'm afraid. But a similar experience. A lady at our church who has had MS for years and is now largely bedridden/in an electric wheelchair, lifted between by her husband, had him get an invite before her. She did manage to get her jab last week by calling the GP I believe. So the moral is just call and ask/get your son to for you.
Also my sister who is over 65 and has chronic MH issues has not had her invite yet, I'm just hoping she manages to 'get round to' calling to book it as she struggles. Never mind the fact that last year I never got a shielding letter, but then got an un-shielding one.
Best wishes, Denby

Hi.
I had this very question as I have bipolar disorder and all the lists for group 6 included this as a severe mental illness and I am obese.
However, I had no invite so I rang my GP. I explained this to the GP receptionist. They asked if I had had a letter to shield or was over 65. When I said no they said I wasn't eligible yet.
I politely stood my ground and asked if I could talk to a doctor about it.
No-one replied but within a week I had a text asking me in for a jab.
I don't know if this was just coincidence but it can't hurt if you believe your condition is in the group 6 list. It can't hurt.
