Disability benefits and UC was created by Sue R
Hi there,
I have Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis and receive PIP and EESA. My husband has given up work to care for me, and has claimed UC.
Today I received my usual EESA payment into my bank, but I’m not sure if it’s correct.
My husband has received an email telling him he’ll receive £981 a month from UC.
What I want to know is, will I continue to receive my PIP and EESA or have they made a mistake?
Thanks. X

Hi Susan
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
You will continue to receive PIP, PIP is not affected by someone claiming UC, when you say you are receiving EESA then I am not sure what type of ESA you are receiving.
There are 3 types of ESA, two for legacy benefits and one for UC. The legacy benefits are called Contribution Based ESA (CB ESA) and Income Related ESA (IR ESA) the UC one is called New Style ESA (NS ESA).
To answer your question we would need to know which ESA you are receiving. You can check by putting your information into one of the online benefit calculators.

Hi again,
My bank account says DWP EESA
Hope that helps, but if not I’ll try and dig out my award papers.
Thanks
