Does anyone get PIP for migraines? Mine are standard migraines & can last for up to 4 days. after having one I am shaky for 2 days. I have up to 37 botox injections every 10 weeks & have been diagnosed with chronic migraines. I have high scores for HIT & Midas tests

Hi sweetpea
PIP is not awarded because of the condition but rather the limitations that result and prevent a claimant from completing a range of everyday activities. Have a look at our PIP Claim guide for a better understanding of the criteria you will need to meet.
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip
Read about the reliability element in the guide - if you cannot do something:
• Safely – in a fashion that is unlikely to cause harm to themselves or to another person.
• To a necessary and acceptable standard – given the nature of the activity.
• Repeatedly – as often as is reasonably required.
• In a reasonable time period – no more than twice as long as a person without a physical or mental health condition would take to carry out the activity.
then you should not be considered able to do the activity.
If you have any further questions, then please return to the forum.

Hi Sweetpea. As the effects of your condition vary, ie you may be Ok doing all the activity descriptors when well, but unable for 4/6 days whenever you get a migraine, could I suggest you do a diary, to record when you have them over several weeks. You can have help with this as obviously you can't write it up on a day you are having one. But a friend or relative can call/text you most days and log if you are well, ill or recovering. And you can describe what you can and can't do at different times. This way, if you are unable to do any specific thing over 50% of the time, it has to be counted that you cannot do it.
Hope this helps you fight off any attempt by 'them' to twist what you say about your problems.
Best wishes, Denby
