Pip mandatory refused was created by Super sad 46
Hi guys, looking for some advice, I’m currently on standard pip for both dl and mobility. I had a paper based review which kept me on these rates. I did the mandatory reconsideration request to which I was refused and kept at standard rate but here’s the thing, I suffer extreme anxiety, agoraphobia, depression, this is why I claim pip. So I challenged the engaging with other ppl and the pama questions. I was awarded 2 points for needing prompting, I told them I needed more than reassurance, I needed a particular family member with me to have any interaction with someone. Does this count as social support? For the mobility part I was awarded 10 points but I explained I can go out but need my family member with me at all times. I just need some advice to see if it’s worth goin to appeal. Much obliged

Hi Super sad 46
I can't tell you whether it's worth you going to appeal. Only you know your case and your medical conditions and how severe the impact is on your daily living and mobility.
The social support can be delivered by an experienced friend or relative - so this is a point you can argue. You would need to show that the support can only be delivered by this one person.
As for the mobility criteria, you would need to show that you never travel alone and the reasons for this.
You need to look back at what you said and see if there is anything missing from your evidence or whether you just need to describe your difficulties in a different way.

Hi Super sad 46
When I had my Pip review recently the friend that provides social support and always takes me shopping and to appointments etc wrote a statement outlining the help he provides. I don't know what influence this had on my successful review, I had other written evidence from my GP too but it backed up what I was saying on my form and all went well and I kept my award.
If you do decide to take it to appeal perhaps something similar from your supportive family member may help.
Good luck anyway,
Gaddy
