pip assessment was created by Mick R
My new PiP assessment is due next month at the end of May, I have not received any letters yet notifying me. What can I expect, a phone assessment.

Hi Mick R

If you have a look at our PIP guide at the link below you will see that there are 9 pages which include advice on telephone assessments. Yes, a lot of the questions are those that would have been asked if you had a face to face assessment.

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants

But here are some practical things to do.

Write yourself a bullet point list of any particular points you want to get over, so you have it by you during the assessment.

Make sure you can take the call in a comfortable place but also somewhere where you can spread your papers out, as you may be asked about your support documents, without them going all over the place.

Have a glass of water or better a jug in easy reach if needed, so you don't get a dry throat and lose your voice!

Make sure you understand the criteria that you are being assessed against, so check our guide above.

If you do not understand what you are being asked, ask the assessor to repeat the question.

Good luck, let us know the outcome when you know.

Gary

... and having been sipping at the jugful of water, should you need a toilet break, or a stretch/change position/take medication break, do not be afraid to say so. Some assessments are not so long but many are quite long enough for nature to call. And if you tell them you need a break/why, it just reinforces you are not superman so might even help your cause. Who knows, time out might lower the assessor's stress levels too which also might be a good thing!
